Abstract
There are several IOC activities that currently address issues related to nutrient loading, coastal effects or coastal management (GlobalNEWS, GEOHAB, ICAM, GOOS, LME), yet at the current time they are not linked or integrated. While each of these programmes has independent missions and goals, their intersection would help to advance our understanding of both current and future predicted impacts of nutrient loads in watersheds on coastal water quality, ecosystem function, and policy response.
