Abstract
From November 1966 through November 1967 plankton tows were taken at HeIsingør, Denmark. Nineteen species of hydromedusae were collected. Obelia spp., Rathkea octopunctata and Phialidium hemisphaericum were present year-round and in the greatest numbers. In April and May a spring peak in number of specimens and species occurred. Few hydromedusae were present during June and July. In August one collection, composed mainly of Rathkea octopunctata, yielded 459 medusae; the number of specimens dropped abruptly after this late summer peak. During the winter months, the hydromedusa number was low. The Helsingør medusa fauna is poor since there are few indigenous species, and only one current (cold, northern water) brings visitors to the region. Most of the hydromedusae are species brought southward from the Skagerrak and Kattegat.
