Abstract |
Larval Ascarids parasitic in Teleostean fishes from the western Mediterranean, present in the collections of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle de Paris, are studied. Nine distinct larval types were found : Anisakis simplex s. 1. [= Anisakis sp. larva (I) Berland] ; A. physeteris [= Anisakis sp. larva (II) Berland] ; Pseudoterranova decipiens ; Contracaecum sp. ; Hysterothylacium aduncum ; H. fabri ; H. arnoglossi ; Hysterothylacium sp. no s 1 and 2. Illustrations are given for each species and measurements for H. aduncum, H. fabri and H. arnoglossi. Contracaecum sp. and Hysterothylacium sp. no s 1 and 2 are described. A key for all of these larvae is proposed. In Hysterothylacium aduncum and H. fabri, the ratios : total body length/oesophagus length, oesophagus length/appendix length, oesophagus length/caecum length are smaller in larvae than in adults. The most common larvae are those of H. fabri (in 54,5 % of the studied fishes), H. aduncum (23,6%) and Anisakis sp. s. l. (11,8%). |
