Abstract
This paper presents the experimental description of the water entry problem of a symmetrical wedge with constant drop velocity. High speed Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is used to determine features of the flow including the velocity field characterization and free surface elevation. The free surface elevation profiles are compared with analytical results, which are found to be in good agreement. Further, results of experimentally and numerically determined velocity fields are presented and discussed.
