Abstract
The identity of both the lndo-Pacific Anachis (Zafra) species recorded from the Eastern Mediterranean is here discussed. The synonymy of A. (Z.) troglodytes (Souverbie in Souverbie & Montrouzier, 1866) with A. (Z.) savignyi (Moazzo, 1939, ex Jousseaume ms.), proposed by Palazzi (1993) is rejected. A. savignyi is regarded as the first Lessepslan Anachis known - originally recorded by Mienis (1972) - whereas the taxon troglodytes is likely to correspond to the further Lessepsian Anachis, recorded from the Southern Turkey by Palazzi (1993), but probably it inhabits the Levant basin since at least ten years. However, a sure identification of troglodytes seems to require the examination of the holotype; therefore, the name A. (Z.) cfr. troglodytes is prudentially employed for the immigrant species. A (Z.) melitoma (Melvill & Standen, 1903), recorded by Palazzi (1993) for the southern Turkish coasts, must be erased from the list of the Inda-Pacific hosts in the Mediterranean.
