| Abstract |
The morphological and systematic study of specimens of Goniastrea retiformis and Goniastrea parvistella coming from the Great Barrier Reef of Australia is presented. The species Goniastrea parvistella, generally considered as synonymous witn Goniastrea retiformis, is believed to be a valid species. This conclusion is drawn from the differences based on the characteristics of the endotheque, the septa ornamentation and of the microstructure, characteristics which have not been sufficiently considered up till now in the discrimination of these two species. |
