Abstract
Earthquake strong motion data provide the basis for the design of critical structures and for the delineation of areas susceptible to ground failure as well as the basis for research on earthquake engineering and strong motion seismology. Consequently, the acquisition of the strong motion data is vital to the national and worldwide mitigation of the earthquake hazards.
