Abstract
The gastric shield of Zyrphea crispata (Bivalvia Eulamellibranchia) is characterized by its development, by the wide area of gastric epithelium covered by this cuticular structure, and by the presence of an invagination in the proximal part of the style sac. The gastric shield is composed of a non-sclerified chitinoproteic matrix and by a dense system of minute cytoplasmic filaments running parallel from the epithelium to the top of the shield.
