An Entomobryan Seira ferrarii Parona has been discovered in quite different and totaly unusual locations for a Collembola: Black Sea (18 m depth), Tunisia (2 m depth and about 900 m away from the coast), Sahara (remote from watery spots) ; this species has also been encountered in the Mediterranean zone as well as in the African Savanna. From an ecological point of view, the tolerance of this Collembola is quite extraordinary, and its purely marine habitat is, for the time being, unique in this order, of which “marine” species are living in the inter-tidal zone.
