Abstract
Accidental or voluntary introduction of adventive molluscs in Venice Lagoon. Acclimation of Saccostrea commercialis and Tapes philippinarum. The acclimation of adventive marine molluscs in Venice Lagoon during the last twenty years is discussed. In particular, the occurence of Saccostrea commercialis and Tapes philippinarum is recorded. The species introduced by accident are listed separately from those introduced on purpose. The taxonomy and biogeography of each brought up to date. The risks in the introduction of commercial species from other countries are underlined.
