Abstract
Reevaluation of 21 specimens of Permian crustaceans from near Palermo, Italy, referred to Palaeopemphix Gemmellaro, 1890, has resulted in transfer of the genus from the decapod Crustacea to a new suborder, the Palaeopemphida, and a new superfamily, Palaeopemphidae, of the archaeostracan Phyllocarida.
