Abstract |
It is shown that there are two different Cerithidium species of Indo-Pacific origin living in the Mediterranean. These are to be named Cerithidium diplax (Watson, 1886) and Cerithidium perparvulum (Watson, 1886) respectively. Both species are compared with Cerithidium ferruginea (A. Adams, 1860) and Bitium furvum (Watson, 1886). Lectotypes of all these species are designated and figured. Figures of Cerithidium fasca (A. Adams, 1860) and Cerithidium submammillatum (De Rayneval & Ponzi, 1854) are given for comparison. |
