Abstract
The distribution and diversity of copepod species in the planktonic system of the Malaga harbour were studied during an annual cycle. Horizontal catches from 1 and 9 m depth were taken at five stations every fortnight from July 1978 till July 1979. Fifty species of copepods were identified, however the community was generally dominated by a reduced number of Acartia species. The harbour waters present two subsystems in which Acartia species have developed different strategies in order to avoid their extinction during the winter period.
