Abstract
    In 1937 liet Karel Jonckheere zich aanmonsteren aan boord van het vrachtschip Elisabeth van België met als bestemming de Golf van Mexico. 'Met Elisabeth naar de Golf' is het relaas van zijn omzwervingen aan boord en in zeven havens: Havana, Vera Cruz, Tampico, New Orleans, Corpus Christi, Houston en Gelveston.
