Abstract |
The dorsal organ of the shrimps Crangon crangon, Thoralus cranchii and Pandalus montagui (Crustacea, Decapoda, Natantia) is described. Fundamentally it is similar to the previously described dorsal organ of reptantian larvae, but is found in all stages up to the mature adult. It is composed of a large glandular opening flanked by two sets of sensory structures all located on a characteristically placed mound near the rostral spines. |
