Abstract
This paper presents a synecological study of the dominant bivalve species in the Ensenada do Baño (Ria de Ferrol, NW Spain), and reports on relationships between the distribution of these species and physicochemical parameters (particle size, carbonate content, organic matter content, sorting coefficient and depth/height with respect to tidal zero). We conclude that the most important factors governing species distribution are grain size and depth/height.
