Abstract
    The Authors inform about the first discovery of Mitra (Swainsonia) zonata Marryat dredged in the Gulf of Palermo together with other specimens of local malacological fauna, most of which alive. The large, evenly dark specimen, which was found a few kilometres East of Palermo, may be referred to as "var. concolor" Coen. The Authors make some remarks about habitat and geographical distribution of Mitra zonata in Sicily.
