Abstract
The Ghar El Melh lagoon, a stretch of water in the Northern Tunisia, knows since 1994, notably in summer, an alarming reduction of its fisheries resources. In order to study the response of free-living nematodes to water and sediment quality of this area, ten stations have been sampled. According to this study, the salinity and dissolved oxygen of waters and the ammonia contents of sediments were key factors for densities, biomasses and specific diversity of the nematofauna.
