Abstract
    This document is one in a series of booklets entitled "Procedures of analyses in the marine environment". This series is mainly intended for analysts, but it can also be useful for environmental managers or students concerned by analytical specificities for the marine environment. The concentration of trace metals dissolved in seawater is on the order of ng/l. Their measurement requires specific techniques as well as controlling contamination when sampling, conditioning and filtration. After a review of these procedures from sampling to analysis, this manual describes a method to preconcentrate some dissolved trace metals, followed by their determination using electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry.
