Abstract
Cibicides lobatulus, Cibicides mabahethi, Cibicides (?) mayori, Cibicides pseudolobatulus, sp. nov., Cibicides (?) tabaensis,- sp. nov., Cibicides tenuimargo, Cibicides aravaensis, sp. nov., Cibicides sp. K, Paracibicides edomica, gen. nov., sp. nov., and Caribeanella elatensis, sp. nov. are described and illustrated by SEMicrographs from Recent sediments of the Gulf of Elat. The wall-structure and wall-ultra-structure of these Cibicididae are briefly discussed and illustrated. All species recorded (except C. aravaensis) have walls composed of thin polygonal platelets of calcite, stacked in crystal units with different angles to the test surface. Under the polarizing microscope most of the species described are "indistinctly radial." Cibicides (?) tabaensis and Caribeanella elatensis are "distinctly radial." The distinctness of "radial" structure appears to be a function of the degree of regularity of the size and arrangement of the calcite platelets in the wall. Cibicides aravaensis shows a special wall-structure, since its indistinctly radial walls are built of nearly equidimensional crystal units of calcite rather irregular in shape and variable in size, and of a threedimensional framework of interlocking fibres of organic material, apparently representing a matrix.
