Abstract
Research on all aspects of marine natural products has become increasingly dependent on access to databases of information on bibliography, taxonomy, compound structures, spectroscopic and physical properties data, and biological activities. Convenient access to and effective use of these databases, especially a 1H NMR database, can lead to a more efficient use of time and effort in (marine) natural product investigations. A survey of the available databases is presented and how appropriate application can markedly reduce the effort required in the process of dereplication.
