Abstract
During the nineties the evolution in the groundwater policy occur in different items and due to consecutive policy priorities. The legislation has been changed, policy instruments have been developped, monitoring, data management and modelling have been proceeded continuously, research has been focussed on the development of new methodologies, policy evaluation has been prepared. The most important changes however, resulted from the introduction of levies on groundwater abstraction. The MINA-plan 2 at last contains a chapter “desiccation” in which the current policy lines in order to install a quantitative balance in the watersystems also will adjust the groundwater policy. Futhermore the groundwater policy will be adapted within the framework of the integrated water management policy.
