Abstract
Trawling survey of shrimp (Penaeus kerathurus) fisheries in the Gulf of Gabès shows that:-The nature of bottoms is sand-muddy and muddy, rich of demersal organisms (cotton spinner, echinoderms, sponges, molluscs, etc.)-Concerning the fish potential, Zarrat and Gabes show the best mean yield per hour, of which the maximum is about 88 kg.-Shrimp represents about 15% of landings. However, fingerlings, thrown back in the sea represent a 33% of total catches.-The analysis of distribution of tacked samples shows the essential of catchs is realized on the first group of age stripped seabream, common pondora, and bluespotted seabream. However, the shrimp, cuttlefish and common sole are constituted by mature individuals.
