Abstract
According to the variations of the gonado-somatic index (IGS), the reproduction period of Barbus callensis extends from mid-May to early July. The ovaries contained three batches of asynchronous oocytes, resulting in a single and intermittent oviposition prolonged under climatic influence. Finally, B. callensis may be ranked among lithophillous spawners, according to the pebble and gravel substrate over which it spawns in flowing water.
