Abstract
This report describes a partnership project undertaken as one of the national pilots for the new Environmental Capital Methodology, as outlined in What Matters and Why? Environmental Capital - a new approach (CAG & LUC 1997).Landscape character assessment was used to describe the area and identify features, characteristics and management issues. A concurrent participation exercise provided information on what is valued by local residents and vistors to the area. The findings are presented as a matrix and will be used to inform the future management of the chalk coast of Kent.
