Abstract
The prospecting studies of the French part of the North Sea and of the East English Channel show the existence of 5 bio sedimentary units. It is among those that we identify as fine to medium sand populations specific for Ophelia borealis. This population consists of islots separated by great depressions. In the North Sea it tends to form a vast complex that covers the region. The study of the four sandy banks, chosen in a way to obtain a double gradient North-South and broad dimension with a licence to define the principle characteristics of this population.
