Abstract
    The Macroramphosid fish Notopogon xenosoma Regan 1914 is recorded on the northern part of the Norfolk ridge and the southern shelf of New Caledonia from ORSTOM trawl surveys. It becomes the most northernly distribuuon m the south-west Pacific Ocean for this subtropical species. Other specimens have been identified from Madagascar collections and induces the same conclusion for the south-west Indian Ocean.
