Abstract
This study was designed to investigate a possible gonadal feedback on TH expression. TH mRNA levels were quantified in the NPOav by in situ hybridization and appeared to be greatly decreased by gonadectomy. Part of this effect has been reversed by estradiol supplementation. A similar effect has been observed on estradiol receptor mRNA levels in the same area. These results suggest that Tyrosine Hydroxylase expression in the preoptic area is regulated by a positive gonadal feedback in the Rainbow trout.
