Abstract
Our previous findings suggest that cytochrome P-450 aromatase (P-450arom) activity in the ovarian follicle of medaka (Oryzias latipes) is regulated at the transcriptional level. Promoter analysis of the medaka P-450arom gene identified putative FTZ-F1 binding sites. In this study, we cloned a full length cDNA for medaka FTZ-Fl (mdFTZ-F1). The results of gel shift assays, RNase protection assays and transfection assays suggest that mdFTZ-F1 is present in medaka follicles and a change in its binding capacity is the predominant mechanism regulating P-450arom in the ovary.
