Abstract
Several protocols were tested to freeze and maximise the use of African Catfish sperm. Best results were obtained by sperm frozen with Methanol 10%, at 5 degree C/min until -40 degree C, held for 5min, then stored in liquid nitrogen (NL sub(2)) and post-thawed diluted to 1:200. This method was also tested under on-farm fertilisation conditions and produced hatching rates similar (P>0.05) to fresh sperm.
