Abstract
Seriola dumerilii (Risso. 1810) is a promising finfish species for the Mediterranean aquaculture diversification (Garcia & Diaz. 1995). Previous studies have shown that maturation in captive conditions usuaIly appeared to be blocked at the onset of vitellogenesis. Therefore, common hormonal techniques are not being effective in the induction of reproduction. A controlled photoperiod regime was employed trying to induce maturation of captive specimens.
