The principles of continuous culture are explained and the application and advantages to mariculture indicated. Detailed descriptions are given of (1) a cheap 4x15l algal plant for use in an oyster hatchery, and (2) an experimental chemostat suitable for cultivating small invertebrates under bacteria-free conditions.
