Abstract
Five species of leptostracan Crustacea have been sampled on the coasts of Provence. One is new to science, Nebalia biarticulata, and could be representative of a new genus. N. bipes abyssicola Fage, 1929 is given a specific rank. N. herbsti Leach, 1814 is recorded from Mediterranean for the first time but without confirmation. N. strausi Risso, 1826 appears the most common leptostracan species of the Mediterranean. A specimen referred to as Sarsinebalia typhlops Sars, 1870 has been caught in very shallow water (Posidonia beds, 12 m).
