Abstract
    In Poland, carotenoid content was examined in the fillets (muscles with skin),liver and gonads (in a few species) of twenty two species of fish from thefisheries of New Zealand, using column and thin-layer chromatography.Twenty six carotenoids were found, with a predominance of canthaxanthin andastaxanthin. The total carotenoid content in the examined material ranged from0.281 (carcass of Zeus faber) to 6.384 µg/g wet mass (liver of Scomberjaponicus).
