Abstract
    A treatment is given of the fundamental differential equations relating to the dynamics of tides and storm surges. A numerical method is suggested for computing the three-dimensional current structure, in addition to sea-surface elevation. As a first step the method is applied to determine wind-induced currents and elevations in a simple rectangular sea basin.
