Abstract
Planktonic hauls made through 1 yr on polluted waters of the southern harbours of Marseilles showed the presence of a population composed of 129 zooplankton spp. Zooplankton of polluted areas have a small biomass (12 to 374 specimens/m3) where meroplankton are represented by only 7%. Faunistically, the polluted seaport waters of Marseilles appear poor biologically, as the zooplankton decrease in numbers and variety throughout the gulf.
