Abstract
After a preliminary note on the sexuality of D. trunculus, the authors analyse its reproduction in its benthic stages over a period of 20 months at Azur-Plage in the Bay of Bou Ismail. This leads them to describe its genital ducts, to ascertain the period of sexual activity of the gonads and to examine the action of physical factors (temp and salinity). The detailed study of sex ratio leads them to presume a higher mortality quota among female than among male, which is in opposition to the general rule with molluscs. Lastly, the settlement of spat is very heavy, between 4 and 6 months after spending the ripe gonads; the authors investigated the duration of larval life and express a hypothesis which will be the basis of a later work on the planktonic life of D. trunculus.
