Abstract
    The population dynamics of C. typicus and T. stylifera reveals a natural succession of generations, each arising from the former and not random variations. The number of generations per annum is 7 for C. typicus and, according to years, 5 or 6 for T. stylifera in the neritic ecosystem of the Gulf of Lions. Only the 1st sp occurs all year round whereas the 2nd only play a role in secondary production in summer and autumn. The mean daily rate of production for C. typicus established over a year is 56.78mg (or 7.95mg dry wt) in 20 m3 of filtered water (or 0.41m2) of surface area) and productivity (P/B) : 0.061 with a variation coeff of 52.8 p.100. The mean daily production for T. stylifera from June to Nov is 11.10 mg (or 2.11mg dry wt) and productivity is 0.053 (Cv = 32p.100).
