Abstract
Seven spp of Polygoriidae, Protodrilidae and Saccocirridae have been identified in a collection from South African Coasts. 1 of them, S. Heterochaetus sp. n. is characterized by possessing uncini, a type of setae which was unknown in the gen. Besides normal capillary setae, there are, in both sexes, some uncini with a curved hook at the tip, in the median and posterior part of the body. Another type of uncini, characterized by 3 terminal prongs, is present in those male segments which are provided with a penis. These genital setae are supposed to be of importance for this minute sp with few copulatory segments to assure fecundation.
