Abstract
The 9 selacian spp usually commercialized by trawlers in Concarneau (excepting skates and rays) live in the fishing zone between Shetland and the South Celtic Sea. The one sp of economic importance is Squalus acanthias and the catch of this sp decreased by 50% from 1966 to 1970. In connection with geographic distribution, S. acanthias is 17 times more abundant around Scotland than the South Celtic Sea. The relative importance of these spp has been determined in the 4 studied areas.
