Abstract
    In S. serratum, the haemlymph composition varies during the puberty-molt cycle. Several features can be observed: an increase of the concn of organic substances during premolt and its decrease during postolot; a rise of the K+ ,Ca2+ , Mg2+ concns during premolt and its lowering during postmolt; a decrease of the Na+ and Cl- concns during premolt and its increase during postmolt; a rise of the osmotic pressure of haemolymph during premolt and its lowering during postmolt (these changes are weak); a little decrease of the water content during premolt and its sharp increase during postmolt; a doubling of the rate of internal water exchange at ecdysis. Though osmotic pressure is mainly assumed by Na+ and Cl-, its variations during the pugerty-molt cycle seem to result from the K+ ,Ca2+, Mg2+ and concn of organic substances.
