Abstract
Samples of the Atlantic and Mediterranean subspecies of the protandrous hermaphrodite polychaete worm O. puerilis, reared at three different temperatures, showed significantly different responses in regard to the body length and the age at which sex reversal occurs. The different plasticity of the two subspecies samples is adaptive and is clearly related to the peculiar environmental temperatures to which each subspecies is exposed in its original habitat.
