Abstract
Concentration factors for silver 110m were determined experimentally for four marine species of a natural food chain. The evolution of the physicochemical forms of silver 110m was studied. At equilibrium, uptake of silver 110m by the diatom Navicula incerta and N. biskanteri was high, with concentration factors (FC) of 13130 and 50750 respectively. The concentration factor was much lower for the mollusc Scrobicularia plana (205) and the crustacean Carcinus maenas (376). Using data from the literature comparisons were made between stable silver levels in these zoological groups and concentration factors obtained by field or experimental investigations.
