Abstract
During the summers of 1967 to 1972, the polychromatism of the natural populations of Sphaeroma serratum was studied on the coast of the Isle of Batz. Twenty-two representative samples, gathering 30,208 individuals, were collected along the 12 km long coast. The frequency of discretum , well represented, decreases gradually from west to east. Ornatum and lunulatum, which present an important correlation in the distribution, decrease from east to west and predominate on the south-east coast, well sheltered and warmer in summer. Signatum and 'red', scarcely represented and for which there is a correlation in the distribution of frequencies, are more numerous in the well sheltered south-south-east area.
