| Abstract |
Samples of macrobenthos and suprabenthos were taken in twelve stations at different depths along an east-west transect on the Aquitanian continental shelf, with a dredge and a suprabenthic sledge. Additional optical surveys of the sea bottom (underwater television and photography) were made. The study includes species richness, species diversity and a qualitative comparison of the investigated stations. The results revealed high differences between the infralittoral station (25 m) and the others, the presence of several bathyal species in the deepest stations (180 and 200 m) and great day-night density variations of the motile crustaceans (suprabenthos). |
