Abstract
After briefly describing the formation of harbour sediments and their physical and chemical properties, with emphasis on pollutants, an overview is given of the analysis of bottom deposits prior to dredging. The interpretation of the results of heavy metal analysis of sediments and their use for agricultural purposes are discussed.
