Abstract
Tholoarctus natans n.g., n. sp. is described from shelly gravel off Roscoff, and seems to be widely distributed chiefly in coralline sand. Prominent new feature is the enlarged bell-shaped epicuticula that the animal was seen to use for swimming above the sediment. Lepoarctus n. g. is erected to include a very similar taxon known from the deep-sea as Plecola conifera Renaud-Mornant, 1975. Genera phylogenetic interrelationships are discussed within the new subfamily Styraconyxinae.
