Abstract
Hypersaline water bodies from Israel and Sinai (Egypt) were investigated in order to define the tolerance of some euryhaline diatom species to high salinity. The study sheds new light on the paleolimnological significance of the fossil diatom occurrences in the Pleistocene Lisan Formation, Israel.
