Abstract
The paper reports on the results of morphological investigations, some of them carried out with SEM, on three species of Saccocirrus , viz. S. minor Aiyar and Alikunhi, S. orientalis Alikunhi and S. krusadensis Alikunhi and two species of Polygordius viz., P. eschaturus Marcus and Polygordius sp., collected from coarse intertidal sediments on Andaman Islands (Bay of Bengal) and Laccadive Islands (Arabian Sea) in the Indian Ocean. The subspecies P. eschaturus brevipapillosus is described as new to science. The results on Saccocirrus are compared with those obtained on materials from other parts of the world and discussed.
