Abstract
A new experiment of multiple autotomy in Y-organless crab Pilumnus hirtellus confirms precedent results: 71% of the surviving animals pass into proecdysis and premolt regeneration, 29% do not regenerate or stay in basal growth. Steady state of results and low level of serum ecdysteroids in crabs only deprived of Y organs make sure the quality of Y organ extirpation. A more important number of normal Pilumnus pass into proecdysis and premolt regeneration after multiple autotomy. Their entry to premolt is more precocious. Nevertheless, rate of mortality before that time is the same. The principal reason of that difference is a certain proportion of C4 stagnation during several months of Y-organless crabs. The observation of two types of C4 ecdysteroids levels in normal animals could explain Y-organless crab's two types of responses to multiple autotomy.
